Early in my broadcasting career, I had the rare opportunity to interview Mr. Smallwood in 2007 🎙️🙏🏽—a moment I will forever cherish. He was gracious, brilliant, and deeply intentional, embodying the excellence heard in every note he composed.

A proud Washingtonian 🏛️, Richard Smallwood was more than a composer and musician. He was a musical scholar, a visionary, and a cultural treasure whose work will continue to minister, inspire, and uplift for generations to come 🎶❤️.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all whose lives were touched by his artistry. We respectfully honor the family’s request for privacy as arrangements are forthcoming 🤍🕊️.

✨ HISTORIC MOMENT FOR FREDERICKSBURG ✨
On Friday, December 19, 2025, history was made as Rashawn Cowles was officially sworn in as the new Sheriff of the City of Fredericksburg at the Fredericksburg Circuit Court.

👏🏾 The oath of office was administered by Circuit Court Judge Gordon F. Willis, marking a powerful milestone for our city. Sheriff Cowles is the first African-American to serve as Sheriff in Fredericksburg’s history, a moment of progress, pride, and representation.

The ceremony was filled with support from family, friends, local law enforcement, and representatives from the Fredericksburg Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, and NOBLE (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives).

This moment reflects not only personal achievement, but a collective step forward for our community.

Congratulations, Sheriff Cowles! We look forward to this new chapter of leadership and service. 💫🌟

I had the opportunity to visit this powerful exhibit at the Fredericksburg Area Museum in downtown Fredericksburg, and it truly left an impression. From honoring local leaders like Marguerite Bailey Young and Cedric Rucker, to confronting the realities of slavery through original documents, to highlighting the bravery of Fredericksburg’s sit-in movement—this exhibit tells history through real people and real stories.

What stood out most was how personal it all felt. These aren’t distant narratives—they’re voices, faces, and legacies that helped shape the community we see today. This is a must-see experience that educates, honors, and connects past to present.

The Men’s Health Roundtable is set to take place on November 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 400 Bragg Hill Drive, Fredericksburg, VA. The event, themed “Conversations & Connections for Healthier Living,” will bring together health professionals and community leaders for an engaging discussion on men’s physical and mental wellness.

Featured panelists include Dr. Iyeke Igbe, Internist at MW Health Center; Everett Foxx, Principal at Oasis Retirement Services; Paul Gregory, an accomplished Ironman athlete; Kevin Mihlfeld, International Ministry Consultant; and Dr. Rosario, Psychiatrist with Clear Horizon. Together, they will explore practical strategies for achieving balance and longevity through medical insight, fitness, faith, and mental health awareness.

The roundtable is sponsored by ACT Enough, Inc. and hosted in partnership with the Family Life Center at Bragg Hill. Attendees can register for free at bit.ly/mens-health-2025.
